It is to be sunny and in the 50’s starting tomorrow. We received about 1.7 inches of rain yesterday and last night and the lake has risen to 540.71 or about 6-inches in the last 24-hrs. Again, Norfork Lake missed the storms and high winds. We have been very fortunate and count our blessings. Maybe the Mississippi River will rise and allow barge traffic to return to normal and the Buffalo River to get some water in it. We have several friends that depend on the rivers. The Mountain Home area has received about normal rainfall for the last year and the lower than normal lake level has been caused by excessive generation, not drought. I guess they have to make up for shutting down our clean coal power plants and shipping our coal to India and China for them to burn in low technology plants. Does not make much sense but I am sure the government will take care of things as they have everything else. Blackburns has done as much as we can to hold our prices despite cost increases in almost every area. When they say there is no inflation they are living in a bubble in Washington. Electricity, water, fuel, propane, building materials, paint, postage, boat repair parts, tires, food, insurance, phone, cable tv have all increased dramatically in the last few years. I do not blame other resorts for raising their prices but the wages of our mostly middle class customers have not increased but their buying power has decreased. When you compare prices against Blackburns resort you will see a significant difference and that is how we reward our many loyal customers and friends that we have built in the last 17 years. We have several people every season say ” We like where we stay but are coming to Blackburns because we cannot take any more price increases”. My purchasing agent had a sign on his wall for salesmen that read: First up First Out. That is how I feel about it. With the lake rising slowly and the moon getting smaller fishing should be pretty good the next several days. Watch for the low pressure to start moving in and the wind start to pick up and get out there if you can. Things are getting ready to change rapidly and I will do my best to keep you informed.
