We got a nice 1-inch plus rain nearly all day yesterday. It was slow and steady and all soaked in. They started generating before the rain started and have and are still hitting it hard. Rather than hate them I will just say a prayer for them and count my blessings. The level is now 540.98 and still dropping with a surface temperature of 48 degrees. That should hold fairly steady for a while with the temperature to be in the mid 50’s this weekend. I always say after January 1st. spring is on the way. Bink and I will go fishing on Thursday morning and I am excited. He does the Live In The Boat Radio Show on Thursday at 8:45 AM on FM 97.9 and it is a good place to hear the live conditions on Norfork Lake. It is not what happened yesterday but right now. He catches good fish almost everyday. Some people try to write fishing reports when their boats have not left the dock for weeks. Bornhops and Kestler sure caught a bunch of big crappie and some good bass. They leave tomorrow and we are always glad to see them and hope they come back soon. Reservations for spring trips are coming in steadily and we encourage you to make your reservation early to get the cottage and boat of your choice. People ask when the best time to come. I say the middle of March, April and May. That does not mean later is not good but fish are caught easier during the top water bite on Spooks and jerk baits. The shallow jerk bait fishing for walleye will start in February. Early March produces some big fish but the weather can be variable. See you in Collinsville starting Friday at noon.
